The Polarization Lab is developing a simulated social media platform to better research the effects of variable features within a social app on individuals' interactions, attitudes, and behaviors.
Including building a mobile app for participants to join the study and a comprehensive desktop dashboard for the researcher group to construct comparison studies, including creating surveys, altering simulated profiles, and generating content for various social media platforms their research.
Starting with the initial discovery phase allowed us to understand the users’ needs better and develop a site map/app flow and user stories. After having a go-ahead from the stakeholders, product manager, and developers. We design and set to deploy a functional application for The Polarization Lab.

The applications will be mainly used for experimental lab research. The primary user group of the product is researchers. To design an application that can efficiently build studies, manage participants, and analyze experimental data. We have qualitative interviews with the research group to understand goals and pain points. By exploring some of their case studies, we brainstormed for potential strategies and proposed various solutions for user workflow. After taking rounds of user testing and stakeholder review, the solutions have gone through iterations of design optimization.
